Since the 1930s the UK has lost 97% of its wildflower meadows, as such, roadside grassland offers a vital habitat space for many different species of wildflowers. A 2019 report by Plantlife states that an incredible number of 700 species of wildflower grow on road verges, nearly half of all UK wildflower species and almost 45% of our total flora!
