With Brexit looming and the vagaries of food prices, it seems to me that everyone with a green space, even a window box, could grow one vegetable or fruit or herb to help the family budget.

At the Seaford Community Garden we have already started planting root green vegetables; tomato plants are still in the greenhouse but will be planted out shortly in the poly-tunnel; herbs are doing well and soon we will be planting out salad seedlings. Soft fruit, especially raspberry canes, have been cut back and are already showing new buds. The flowers are attracting bees and other pollinators, so weather permitting we hope to get a bumper crop of some vegetables and fruit.
