A year in review! 2023.

Greenhavens had a fantastic year getting out meeting community and delivering Wilder Garden training and getting to know local groups.

We held four Network Meetings where we heard from OVCA Project Team, Wilder Gardens, and The Peverells and Denton Community Gardens and caught up on all their news and plans for the future.

In June we headed to Bishopstone Station Old Parcel Room for our AGM where we had a wonderful presentation from Friends of Bishopstone Station about the amazing restoration project they have carried out.

It’s an exciting time with all the fantastic green groups in the area working hard to deliver vital services for the community and to preserve our green spaces. And with the huge grant from the National Lottery, delivered by Ouse Valley Climate Action, local groups can now offer resilience and give the local community viable ways of connecting with community whilst combating food poverty and biodiversity.  Greenhavens are proud to be part of the stakeholder team and are looking forward to working with the Project to help groups access funding and support.

This year we led wildflower walks, did moth traps in peoples gardens, visited the Peacehaven Community Orchard for blossom walks, fungi walks and held two seed and plant swaps at FOBS and The Peverells Community Garden where we also held a fantastic Buglife session that was a hit with the kids!

All at Greenhavens would like to thank everyone who has joined us at any point throughout the year and all the amazing local groups who work incredibly hard to connect with community and all the beautiful green spaces around us.

Special thanks go to Miriam who has been a wonderful addition to the Team at Greenhavens taking on the new Co-Ordinator role.   Sadly Miriam has now left and is working on her own projects at Peverells Community Garden.    We will miss Miriam and her amazing energy and willingness to get stuck in and get jobs done.  Thank you Miriam and good luck from us all.

We’re now planning more of the same – two seed swaps already booked in as is a fungi walk in the autumn.   If you would like to get on our emailing list and join us next year please email contact@greenhavens.network

We look forward to seeing you in 2024!
