Active Steps from Sustrans will help people who wish to take up cycling over a 10 week programme of managed, weekly rides.

SUSTRANS in partnership with East Sussex County Council are offering a free ten week programme to support anyone who would like to increase their daily activity through cycling. Cycling is a great way to help improve physical and mental health and is also an excellent way of saving time and money. The Active Steps programme will offer easy, managed and guided weekly rides, from The Big Park in Peacehaven to help all participants take up cycling and improve their health and cycling confidence. All rides will start at The Cycle Hub in The Big Park in Peacehaven and will take place weekly from 19th August.

There are a range of other benefits that are offered by the Active Steps Programme; free loan bikes are available for the entire duration of the course and a free health check is offered to everyone taking part. Other accessories are also made available, such as lights and helmets so that anyone taking part will feel confident on their bike.

The benefits of cycling are well documented, not only is it a form of cardiovascular exercise that is gentle on muscles and joints it is also an excellent form of transport that can help save considerable amounts of money to anyone that uses cycling as a regular form of day to day transport.  Participants in Active Programmes have reported not only feeling healthier but also of reducing their daily car use and saving money as a result.

So why not make a change today that will benefit your health and save you time and money as well as doing something great for the environment and air quality?
